Neighborhood (Treehouse)
03:49
|
|||
Neighborhood, moving on while I sit still
Sidewalk, always seems to go uphill
Used to know the neighbors but they all have moved away
Changes all around me all I want to do is stay
Old house, worn and used but comfortable
Lived in, by this tired lonely soul
Stairs I've climbed a thousand times, creaky as can be,
Is that old face staring from the mirror really me?
Back yard, filled up by an ancient tree
Stately, tall in all its majesty
Tire swings and tree-houses, shaded from sun's blast
Memories of childhood for generations past

20 Feet Deep

Fragile sacred tablets one slip
They shatter, hold them close to me together
Pray I do not fall Marble floor below
Concentrate, close eyes hold them together
Sudden change with the wind disturbs my stride
I tried, failing, hold it together
The written word travels with the ghosts in the hall
Scented smoke carries us all together
Racing mind, far behind, reasoning a little faith
Catching up, take a breath…here I go

Coronado
03:37
|
|||
Been walking all day long
Ain’t seen a soul for hours
Hitch hiking till I reach the sea.
The sun had just gone down
Upon the desert highway
Blood read unlike I’ve never seen…
Standing on the side of the road
He doesn’t worry cause he doesn’t know
Coronado’s coming down the road
And then I heard a sound
It rumbled through the canyon
I turned to look from wince it came
And from the burning sky
Howling down the highway
A cloud of dust was heading my way…
He sees them coming over the hill
A band of riders give him the chill
He wants to run but ya know he’ll still around
And by my second breathe
The riders were upon me
The giant steed drew to a halt
The men were 10 feet tall
All clad in Spanish armor
The captain’s eyes gleamed as he said
Well do you know senior
About the golden city
We search for years we must be close, si so close
I told him, I don’t know
But I could use a lift
Together we might get somewhere…
Searching for the city of gold
The quest began so long ago
Hitching a lift with Coronado

Rolling Song

FAR FROM HOME I FIND MYSELF
IN A PLACE WITH LITTLE WEALTH
DO WE REALLY TAKE THIS MUCH FOR GRANTED?
DESERT HEAT, THE OPEN SEA
LANGUAGES FOREIGN TO ME
NOTHING SEEMS TO BE QUITE WHAT I WANTED.
I can roll over the ocean
I can roll over the mountain
I know I’ll see you on the other side
When things are looking gloomy
And the world is acting moody
I know there is love somewhere inside
There’s a whisper from the desert
There is so much to discover
I roll around there and come alive
There’s a whisper from Savanna
She say’s roll into my river
Take a long drink and cool your mind
I can roll with the last tribe
Roll away from the nations
I hope there is peace somewhere inside
I can’t say
How we’ll behave
We’re so glad we’re (you're) here tonight

Roman Highway
06:11
|
|||
Strolling down Roman highway
Pint of bitters and broken dreams
Leave my sword at the station
White Crow caws, solder’s screams
Good ole past stay behind me
Future who should say?
Ghosts hawk spears and armor
Kick the skull along way
Along the way, soaked in rage
I wash away
All the years & all those fears
I walk away
Fine mist cools face and hands
Heal the sting of many wars
Here & there touch a loose stone
Releasing buried roar
Where I travel is past
The future none can say
A flower blooms in broken mortar
Roman Highway slow decay
Slow Decay, broken rage
I wash away
All the years & all those fears
I walk away
Along the way, swirling haze
I walk away

Harmonize
03:26
|
|||
Set out on a journey to find out how much we know,
We started with a small trip just to see where it would go
Made some plans, kept working hard, got friends along the way,
Didn't even stop to think where we'd been yesterday.
We all want (love) to harmonize
Been going for a while, making progress here and there,
And then we hit a rough patch amid a head light's glare,
Silly antics, somersaults, and goofy banter too,
Had to pause and catch our breath to figure out what we could do.
Scanned the map, reformed our plan, and started up again,
We thought we'd made it through but then it happened yet again.
We all shouted right except for one who shouted left,
We went our separate ways but figured it was for the best.

Blue
02:16
|
|||
When I see blue, do you?
When I hear the News, do you believe it’s true?
When the flood rose high, were you given wings to fly?
Looking down with the sun, do you feel like you’ve won?
So high above, did the stars steel your love?
In a book of spells, with golden idols you dwell.
Dance in clouded halls, swing down before you fall!

Over the Hill
03:35
|
|||
Over the hill I flew like a crow
Casting my shadow on the forest below
Warm wind whispering a mournful tune
Blew through the brightness of the ghostly moon
Made my way to a stony creek
On a large gray rock sat a bald old freak
Stroked his feather pen and wrote in the air
To all of those that pass you best beware
I open my window spread out my arms
I flew past the cities and I flew past the farms
The sun warmed my body and the stars, lit the night
Far ahead I saw a plume of rising smoke
Heard the shouts and laughter of some festive folk
Flew to a tree by beside that lively knoll
The fire grew higher and warmed my soul
They danced in their cloths they wore at birth
Sang a pagan song about their Mother Earth
Smoked her herbs and played some earthly games
Then they got bored and jumped in the flames
Followed alone an old dirt road
Approaching headlights made the darkness corrode
Cars full of kids racing wild and free
One missed the curb and slammed into a tree
The crest of the mountain was lit by the sun
Over the ridge came Attila the Hun
His hoards sacked the village and killed the men dead
Consumed all their wine and freshly baked bread
I remember the things that I have past
The good and the bad they do not last
The memories I made the chance, may never come again
